Declaring the use of generative AI in assessment
The University's statement on academic misconduct and the use of AI tools states:
A student using any unacknowledged content generated by artificial intelligence within a summative assessment as though it is their own work constitutes academic misconduct, unless explicitly stated otherwise in the assessment brief.
Where students engage in permitted use of generative AI in summative assessments, this should be clearly acknowledged. The department, faculty or institute setting the assessment will provide specific guidance. The following is a sample rubric they might wish to adopt.
