Student Conference Funding

School of the Humanities and Social Sciences researcher development funding for student-led conferences

The School of the Humanities and Social Sciences has made available up to £12,000 for student-led conferences to be held during 2017-18.

The money, at a maximum of £1,000 for each conference, is available for postgraduate research students to set up and run conferences, encouraging the development of transferable skills.

In order to receive an award, students are invited to bid by completing the application form. Bids must be submitted by the lead student co-ordinating the conference. Please ensure that any bid has been discussed with your supervisor and has been approved both by them and by your Degree Committee Secretary.

All bids must be received by 5pm Friday 1 December 2017. The School intends to let know the outcome of your application as soon as possible after this deadline.

To facilitate your bid, Dr Matt Lane (Researcher Developer, Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences) will run a lunchtime training session on completing the application form at 12:15-13:15 on Wednesday 15 November in Lecture Room 5, Mill Lane Lecture Rooms. All students intending to apply to the scheme are encouraged to attend.

Following your application, you will see a screen notifying you of your completed application. Please note, you will not receive an email confirmation of receipt of your application. If you are in any doubt, please email for clarification.
