School of the Humanities and Social Sciences

Phil Allmendinger

Dear Colleagues

I am pleased to share with you the responses from the first School of the Humanities and Social Sciences’ Staff Survey which ran in March 2016. I would also like to thank you again for your contributions to this survey which gave you all the opportunity to share views and opinions on working life within your Faculty or Department, School and the wider University.

The information, opinions and ideas that have emerged will now be used to help inform our future planning and identify any areas for change, which will benefit you, your individual departments, and the School and University as a whole. The School is working closely with Heads of Department, Faculties and Institutes to ensure your local results are shared and understood and also to develop a School wide action plan which will be shared via this site with you in due course.

I would like to see a return of the survey in 2018 and the actions and measurements put in place now will be a key indicator of how successful we are in making changes for you as a result of your input.

I encourage you all to participate where you can in any work flowing from this plan and also work that your Department, Faculty or Institute are undertaking in relation to the Athena SWAN Charter.

Your views are very important to the School and I very much value your input.

Best wishes

Professor Phil Allmendinger,

Head of the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences
